Hello, and welcome to my "Home Away From Home" here on the web. I am NOT 29, as was recorded, but I won't go into how old I really am, right now anyway! I chose the neighborhood for Pets & Animals, here at Fortune City, because that is one of my biggest interests. I am the very proud owner of 2 Doberman Pinschers, a female and her son, plus one adorable and sweet as can be, Bouvier Des Flandres female. The female Dobe I have had since she was about 4 weeks old, and her name is Kelly, which fits since she is a Red Doberman! She has the quick and sometimes fiery temperment that is associated with red hair, too! Her son, Moosie, is a huge Black and Tan male, with such a heart of gold, and a sweetness you wouldn't believe. Yet, he weighs in at about 125 lbs, and is so tall. Where he came by all this height, and heaviness we have no idea, since his mother is fairly 'petite', and his father is a normal-sized male. But, Moosie is awesome to look at--strangers think so, too, which is nice! Moosie's AKC name is "M'Lord's Blackjack", and to strangers he comes across that way as well! The little Bouvier is another matter altogether. We just bought her in August. She is two years old now, and her name is "Beware of Bonnie Bouv", but her former owner nicknamed her Oober. I managed to change Oober to Oobie, in the hopes that, once she is totally at home here, she won't mind if I change her name to something completely different! If you know anything about Bouviers they have this incredibly long, tough outer coat, that makes them appear to be short little burly bears! Well, Oobie's former owners shaved most of her coat off, and she rather looks a mess from it, right now. Oobie's coat color is Brindle, a mixture of brown/black/grey, and has been refered to as "salt&pepper" shading. One big problem we ran into with her was how she must have been treated at her former home. It has taken us this long, since August, to help her to trust us, and realize we don't hit, and punish like that. It was awful to realize how frightened she was that, if any 'accident' happened, she was not going to be hit. I was so angry when I realized how afraid she was. On a happier note, here, Oobie is such a big ball of lovableness, and she loves to be hugged, and petted so much! I do my very best to divide the attention between the three of them equally, both with touch and with word. By the time I'm through, my dogs may actually have a vocabulary of sorts, since I talk to them all the time! The neighbors were amazed when I'd walk all three dogs at one time---I was too, since the Dobes are so full of enenrgy that they'd almost pull me, and Oobie, right down the street after them! I kept having people I had never spoken to before, actually stop what they were doing to comment on the dogs! One man swore at us, he was so annoyed that we'd been in his way, as he was about to turn down an alley--but, her was the only detractor we had! It turned out that all three of them was just too much for me, so, now, I try and take Moosie all by himself, then hook up Oobie, and Kelly to a tandem leash, and that works out beautifully for ALL of us! I know that if I were younger I'd actually have a small home zoo, I love animals so much. A couple of years ago I was lobbying my husband to buy me my own horse, but he was too smart for that one! But, I did manage to convince him to let me have cats, so we now have three! All were in some way a rescue, Tigger, our neutered male, especially. The girls, Jennifer, and Jasmine, were the offspring of a ferral cat that was part Siamese, and their mother was so totally wild that the 'girls' were not fond of people at first. But, that was three years ago, and Jennifer is fine, but Jasmine still hides alot, and both of them hide if we have company! Jasmine will come to me after I go to bed, because she loves to be petted, but is way to nervous and shy to come up to me any other time. But, someone told me to give her a good three years, and sure enough, as she has gotten older, she is becoming bolder--hooray! Tigger is "Cat to the World", he is such a precocious, bold little guy, and the neighbor's on our left, love him, but the neighbor on our right used to throw things at him, when he'd come over there at night, until she realized he was our cat! Well, I could go on forever, I think, talking about my dogs and cats, but I really have to wrap this up! I hope to be adding to my site, here, at times, and improving my homstead as time goes by. I hope to be visiting my neighbors, here at Fortune City, in the near future as well. This propstrong>
